Computational Chemist/Physicist (Beam - Surface Interaction)
Join Lace Lithography to simulate how light shapes matter. Model resist behavior with precision and help design the tools behind the future of nanoscale patterning.
We usually respond within a day
We’re on a mission to do something really, really small. You’ll simulate the chemistry that brings our patterns to life.
At Lace Lithography, we’re building a revolutionary chip lithography technology that will dramatically improve chip performance for decades to come. Founded in 2023, we’re based in Bergen (Norway) and Barcelona (Spain), and backed by some of the world’s most ambitious investors.
About the Role
We're looking for a physicist/chemist with experience in modelling particle interaction processes on surfaces and beam-induced surface modifications. Your mission will be to simulate the electronic structure of our resist and how it responds to interaction with a particle beam. This position is based in Barcelona, and will involve travelling at least twice a year to our office in Bergen.
What you’ll do
As the Computational Chemist/Physicist for Resist Simulations, your main contributions will include to:
- Build a full resist simulation framework for a variety of resist materials, integrating resist activation physics and defect mechanisms into our Mask design ILT algorithm.
- Model the interaction of a resist with metastable atoms capable of answering questions about our physical models
- Relate the resist model and simulations to experimental data on resist characterisation and performance
- Work with our Patterning squad and external collaborators to optimise resist behaviour and performance
Who you are
- PhD in Physics/Applied Physics or Computational/Physical Chemistry with a strong focus on quantum chemistry, surface science, including adsorbate layers, beam-induced surface modification and electron/molecule interactions.
- Expertise in density functional theory (DFT), molecular orbital (MO) modelling, and related quantum simulation tools.
- Strong coding skills in Julia, Python, C++, or scientific computing frameworks for integrating your models into larger simulation pipelines.
- Familiarity with professional software development processes such as Continuous integration, testing, etc.
- Experience working with resists ideally in lithography R&D, is a major bonus.
