Senior Platform Engineer (DevSecOps)
We usually respond within three days
At Lace Lithography, we’re scaling up our team and looking for a passionate and sharp talent to join us.
In our company we build chip lithography technology that will enable the next 100 years of chip manufacturing. Founded in 2023, we’re based in Bergen (Norway) and Barcelona (Spain), and backed by some of the world’s most ambitious investors.
About the Role:
Lace Lithography is seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to evolve the core components of our platform and security stack. In this role, you will design, build, maintain and optimize the high-performance foundations that enable all our teams to deliver world-class lithography technology with a strong focus on security.
You will collaborate with different teams to support a broad range of computational needs and help design a platform that runs their distributed algorithms. Your work will involve hybrid cloud architecture managing both CPU and GPU resources, identity and access management (IAM), automated security controls, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, security, and performance of our mission-critical systems used in research, development, and production.
What you’ll do:
Platform Architecture & Development (DevOps):
- Architect, implement, and maintain company-wide hybrid infrastructure for computation, simulations, data processing, and distributed workflows across a heterogeneous CPU/GPU environment.
- Operate and scale orchestration clusters (EKS, AKS, GKE, Slurm) — managing resource allocation for both CPU and GPU workloads, deploying services, troubleshooting, and maintaining system health.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Build and improve CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment pipelines to streamline workflows.
Platform Security & Automation (SecOps):
- Design and implement the platform's security posture, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and runtime security monitoring.
- Enforce security best practices via automated tooling.
- Define and implement granular Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and network security policies across hybrid-cloud environments.
- Lead security incident response, diagnostics, and root cause analysis for the platform.
Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Partner with multiple teams to integrate tools, and workflows into the shared platform.
- Maintain technical documentation and mentor other engineers in cloud, automation, and security best practices.
Who you are:
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, SRE, or DevSecOps.
- Experience building and maintaining platforms for large-scale distributed systems or simulation workloads
- Strong hands-on experience with core security concepts: IAM, network security (VPCs, firewalls), and secrets management.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Orchestration: Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or GKE), Slurm.
- Containerization: Docker, Singularity (or other HPC containers).
- IaC & Config: Terraform, Ansible (or similar).
- SCM & CI/CD: Expertise with Git; experience with GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar
- Proficiency with Linux, networking, and systems architecture.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple technical teams.
Preferred:
- Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
- Security Certifications: AWS Certified Security, CompTIA Security+, CISSP
- Experience with modern security tooling (e.g., OPA/Kyverno, Falco, Trivy).
- Experience with GPU-aware orchestration, either in Kubernetes (e.g., NVIDIA device plugin) or on-prem HPC clusters (e.g., Slurm).
- Multi-cloud exposure (Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with HPC concepts (MPI, CUDA).
